Well, it stands for North-East Dinky, for when I started this up WAY back in 2001, I lived in the north-east of England, in a village called Lynemouth, Northumberland.
Originally the site was set up to celebrate my love of Dinky Toys, those fantastic toy cars from my youth (the late fifties) when one car cost around 2s and 6d (around 20 cents). Nowadays I live in HOT and SUNNY California, but I still miss my home land.
If you are planning a trip to England, don't just go to the normal tourist traps, Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and the like, go right up north and visit Northumberland. Its beautiful, mostly unspoilt, and has many castles, including
Alnwick
where parts of the Harry Potter films were made.
You MUST visit

And then there's
Warkworth Castle
One of the most magical places in the north-east (and probably the world) is I still own a house in
Lindisfarne or Holy Island
I am not in any way religious, but even I had a sense of awe at the history of this incredible 'island' as I walked round the castle, the ruined priory and its beautiful, quiet village.
Newbiggin-by-the-Sea
(Check out the Newbiggin web-site and in particular the wonderful Panoramic views of the town)
You should also take a walk around the small but beautiful seaside town of Amble and while there you have to treat yourself to the best fish and chips in the world at the Quayside Chippy.
On the Scottish border is the marvellous historical town of While you are in the north-east,visit the great city of
Berwick upon Tweed
The town has three beautiful old bridges, as in the photo, and a football team that plays in the Scottish league, although the town is in England!
